+
Over 50 community projects completed in Wards 9 and 10 that directly improve daily life for residents. From fixing roads to building parks and adding traffic signals, these projects are based on what neighbors told us they needed most.
Traffic & Safety
Making neighborhood streets safer with speed humps and new traffic signals at various locations where residents raised concerns. These changes help protect children, pedestrians and drivers by slowing down traffic in busy residential areas.
Parks & Recreation
Building new shade shelters, adventure zones and upgraded facilities where families can enjoy time outdoors. These improvements give everyone – from kids to seniors – better places to stay active, meet neighbors and enjoy Brampton’s outdoor spaces.
In his role as Deputy Mayor, Harkirat Singh founded and chairs the MedTech Task Force. He also founded and established Niwaas Long-Term Care, a 160-bed facility, and chairs its Fundraising Cabinet.
Most recently, Niwaas Long-Term Care launched Niwaas Living, an affordable housing non-profit developing 90 family units in Brampton, 40 of which will be deeply affordable.
Internationally recognized, he has served as a municipal expert on various topics at global forums, including twice at the Urban20 Summit (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), the Strong Cities Fifth Global Summit (Cape Town), and the United Nations Headquarters (New York). He was recently selected by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to represent Canada at the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG)’s World Council and Executive Bureau.
