Niwaas Long-Term Care

We’re proud to have founded Niwaas, Ontario’s first long-term care home focused on serving
Punjabi and Sikh seniors. This 160-bed facility delivers culturally responsive care through
familiar food, language, and traditions, ensuring dignity and comfort for our elders.

We secured over $50 million in provincial funding and are now leading a $20 million capital
campaign as Chair of the Fundraising Cabinet.

Creating a Home Away From Home
Niwaas is a non-profit model that prioritizes care over profit. The facility, located at 380
Fernforest Drive, will provide 24/7 medical services in an environment where culture and
compassion are at the forefront

Creating a Home Away From Home

Leading the development of Niwaas as a non-profit long-term care facility that prioritizes resident care over profits. The 160-bed facility at 380 Fernforest Drive in Brampton will provide essential healthcare services while honoring cultural traditions. This pioneering project addresses the specific needs of our aging Punjabi-Sikh community members who deserve dignified care in a familiar environment. Our vision is to create a place where language barriers disappear and cultural practices are respected and celebrated.
Niwaas will serve as a national example of how long-term care can honour identity while delivering professional healthcare to those who built our communities.
